The Juan de Fuca Pathfinders Volkssport Club, renamed The Juan de Fuca Pathfinders Walking Club as of April 1, 2010, was founded on Jan. 1, 2005 by the merger of the Juan de Fuca Ramblers (founded in 1989) and the Peninsula Pathfinders (founded in 1996).  We offer a variety of walks through wooded areas, urban streets and along the seashore in the Greater Victoria Regional District on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, as well as in the Cowichan Valley and other locations.  We invite walkers of all ages to participate in the events with our members.  NEW MEMBERS are welcome.  Membership is not mandatory to enjoy the Volkssport walking experience.  There are Volkssport (walking) events most weekends, as well as scheduled weekday walks, hosted by the Pathfinders or one of the other clubs on South Vancouver Island.

“Volkssporting” means “people sports” and is international.  It began in Germany and now there are clubs worldwide.  Events are non-competitive and done either as a Club event, or a PT on your own or as a group (“Permanent Trail”, previously called a “year round event” or “YRE” with maps available at advertised locations for safe and interesting walks; self-guided at walkers own speed).  Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome at most events.
